I have received the Xkeys switch interface. I am very impressed with it; here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
- up to 12 switches

• usb
• each switch is programmable (via windows or mac software)
• each switch can emulate mouse buttons 1-5, or series of keyboard keys.
• it works on unix/linux/mac/windows (it emulates key and mouse in hardware)
• only $99 US
• OEM pricing is available

Cons:
- each switch must be programmed

• the programming of switches can not be done on unix/linux yet (as far as I know)
• you currently can't program to the granularity of emulating only a mouse button down (or up). essentially a switch is a mouse button (wrt press release behaviour)

Issue: on a Sun Blade running solaris 8, only one mouse and one keyboard appears to be allowed by the system, and using the Xkeys interface required a reboot. In my test the Xkeys interface happened to take precedence (and the regular mouse was disabled). Peter, was this the case with the switcheroo? I haven't hacked together a test using Xinput yet, so that might be the way to go... except I'm not sure how to make sure we don't interfere with the "regular" mouse...
